We are a people to whom the past is forever speaking.
Far out of the dark nowhere in time before we were born,
Men who were flesh of our flesh and bone of our bone
Went through fire and storm to break a path to the future.
We are a part of the future they died for,
What they did, the lives they lived,
The sacrifices they made, the stories they told,
The songs they sang and …
The deaths they died make up part of our experience…
In their honor … join us for the Call of
the Clans …

Scottish Country Dancing
(Held at the Scottish Dancing Tent)
Scottish Country Dancing developed over many centuries as native Scottish
Folk dances absorbed influences from the elegant European courts. The Scots
made the country dances their own by incorporating intricate and precise
steps and figures from their highland reels. Since 1923, Scottish Country
Dancing has been guided by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society.
Characteristically Scottish Country dancing consists of two lines of
dancers, men on one side facing the women on the other. The dances are of
three types, distinguished by their tempos: lively reels, moderately fast
jigs and slow strathspeys.
Dancing workshops and demonstrations are held on the field at Rural Hill on
Saturday and Sunday during the Loch Norman Highland Games. Everyone is
invited to attend the FREE Lessons.
