HUNTERSVILLE, NC:  This weekend April 18-19 is the highly anticipated Rural Hill Scottish Festival and Loch Norman Highland Games.  Executive Director Ed McLean says, “There are more pipers and dancers registered than the past several years.  On Saturday and Sunday gates open at 8 AM. It is going to have all the elements from years past, but also has much more to offer than ever before.”  There are many activities and demonstrations scheduled and more than 90 Scottish clans, family societies and heritage organizations will be on site.  Complete Festival and Games information is available online at www.ruralhillscotttishfestivals.net or www.ruralhill.net.

Saturday and Sunday offer Professional and Amateur Scottish Heavy Athletics and a variety of competitions that anyone can enter.  Note: Professional athletes are by invitation only.   Sanctioned competitions include Individual Piping and Drumming, Pipe Band Competition, Carolinas Open Highland Dancing Championships, Scottish Country Dance Demonstrations, Scottish Fiddle Competition and Scottish Harp Competition.    Other activities and demonstrations include crafts, music and dancing, Sheep Herding, Single Malt Whisky seminars, the Highland Cattle and more.  The 1760’s Davidson Family Homestead and the Historical Encampment will provide a look into the history of Rural Hill.  Celtic Music will be performed all day on three stages.
