Frequently
Asked Questions about the Maze
1. Are we allowed to bring our dog?
Unfortunately,
we do not permit any pets at the Amazing Maize
Maze, service dogs excepted. If you want to bring your dog to
the site, they will be welcomed on November 7 & 8, 2009 at the
Rural Hill
Sheep Dog
trials.
2. How is your maze constructed?
Our maze is not constructed... it
magically appears in the field. That is why it is amazing.
The Amazing Maize Maze has about two and a half miles of
pathways in a 7 acre corn field.
The paths are then lined with colored ribbon to help you
get and keep your bearing while traversing the maze.
3. What should I wear to go through the maze?
The Amazing Maize Maze (TM) is an imaginative use of a corn
field, but a working corn field, nonetheless. Please note the
rough terrain and be cautious as you walk. Shoes are
required; comfortable shoes suggested. Sun screen use is
encouraged.
4. How long does it take to complete the maze?
Depends on how good you are. Remember it's not the destination
that counts, it's the journey. There are 12 mail boxes locate in
the maze, each mail box has a puzzle piece in it. If you
can find all 12 puzzle pieces you will have a complete map of
the maze. There are also 12 Kernals of
Knowledge that will test your
knowledge of Going Green. The Ultimate Challenge of course is to
find all 12 puzzle pieces and all 12 Kernals of Knowledge. But
you don't have to play the Ultimate Challenge to have a good
time. The maze is designed to be completed in 45-90 minutes.
5. Can we take our water into the maze?
Yes, and we also
have several water stations throughout the maze. We have
also provided trash baskets at each water station to dispose of
your plastic water bottles and other trash.
6. What if we get lost?
YES,
You will ! ! !
But with perseverance and a bit of deductive reasoning you
will solve the maze. Remember a good way to solve a problem
is to ask someone who knows more about the situation than
you do. There will be many opportunities to receive a little
assistance.
7. Can we take strollers, and wagons the maze?
While the maze
is an active cornfield; strollers, wheelchairs and wagons
can be used in the maze. As more people visit the maze the paths
will become harder and smoother.
8. Can we pay by check or credit card?
You may pay by
cash, check or credit card. We accept Master Card and
Visa.
9. Will you
have food available at the maze?
We have arranged
for a concession stand that will sell drinks, hamburgers, hot
dogs, ice cream, slushies and many other goodies.
