Welcome to
Rural Hill,
the historic homestead of Major John and Violet (Wilson)
Davidson. For more than 230 years, six generations of the
Davidson family would make their home at Rural Hill. Stories
about this remarkable extended family, their African slaves,
share croppers and tenant farmers illustrate the ingenuity and
perseverance of the people of our region as they triumphed over
fate and changing fortune.
The 2008 Amazing Maize Maze will be open
from September 11 thru November 2, 2008.

animals, and walking trails throughout the site. Eleven historic buildings
and reconstructions provide a setting for cultural heritage events,
preservation seminars and self-guided tours and games.

support The Centre of Scottish Heritage for recognition of the contributions
of the Scots and Ulster Scots (the Scots-Irish) to the American experiment.
The
Clock is Ticking!
Rural Hill has been given an exciting opportunity to acquire the tall
case clock purchased by Major John Davidson from the noted Massachusetts
clock maker, Aaron Willard. The label dates the clock to 1800 and this
rare artifact of the history of our region is in excellent working
condition.

acquisition possible.
