There is a minimum
of 50 people to host your event

All events last
approximately 3 hours, and must end no later than 10:00 PM.
Additional time may be allotted for your event at the cost of
$250.00 per each ½ hour.
Events may be scheduled as early as 9 AM but must end by 10 PM.
(Mecklenburg County Regulations) No Exceptions.

We can provide a
caterer of you may bring your own upon approval of the Rural Hill
staff

Rural
Hill
is an open air living history museum. We do not have
enclosed buildings at this time to provide shelter for guests other
than our educational pavilion (Seating for approximately 40-50
people). We do offer tent rentals, but leave it up to the client to
prepare for inclement weather.

Because
our site is open daily to the general public as a historic site we
require that catering, bar, and special event vendors work in the
designated setup area as well as be mindful and courteous to our
daily visitors.

All
beverages and food shall remain in the designated area of the event.

Caterers & Bar Vendors must submit a copy of their alcoholic
beverage license and worker’s compensation license to the Rural Hill
staff at least 10 working days prior to event

Should
you choose to hold your event during regular operating hours (9 AM-5
PM) please note the site is open to our daily visitors. However,
they will not be allowed in your designated event area.

Smoking,
Food, and Drink are not allowed inside the Davidson house, Davidson
Schoolhouse, Rural Retreat Log Cabin or any other building on the
Rural Hill
property.

We want
you to have keepsakes of your special event. Photography is allowed
throughout the site. However, photographs, film, and video may not
be used for commercial use without pre-approved permission from
Rural Hill
and the Catawba Valley Scottish Society.

Rural
Hill
will not be responsible for any items lost or stolen
during the event.

Rural
Hill
will not be responsible for harm or injury caused by the
event and related activities.

Any
damage done to the Rural Hill
site and its properties will be
assessed and charged to the client.

Decorations and temporary signs are allowed in certain areas of the
property, but must be taken down after the event. Nails and staples
are not allowed on furniture, artifacts, or any other historic
structure. Confetti or other related substances are not allowed.
Bird seed, rice, or other natural bio-degradable substances may be
used.

Due to
the sensitivity of this nature preserve fireworks or any other
special effects devices are prohibited. Discharge of fireworks is
illegal in the state of North Carolina.

Gift
shop may be opened at the request of the client at no extra charge.
