This is the official shirt of the Battle of Cowan's Ford, the last battle of the American Revolution to be fought in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, February 1, 1781. Prior to the battle American troops camped at Rural Hill and Major John Davidson loaned his cousin, General William Lee Davidson, one of his horses to ride into battle. Each year Historic Rural Hill hosts the battle reenactment and living history encampment.
